At its inaugural training on “Building a Happy and Peaceful Family for Nigerian Army Personnel,” the Nigerian Army Women Command emphasized the significance of stable families for military efficacy. At the workshop, which took place at the Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), reiterated the Army’s dedication to offering all-inclusive support systems for soldiers and their families.

Major General Koko Isoni, the Commander of Army Headquarters Garrison, spoke on behalf of the COAS, who pointed out that a solid family foundation raises morale and enables soldiers to stay committed to their work. “Soldiers who have a happy and peaceful family often draw additional morale from the assurance of a secure home front, which translates into better performance, quicker decision-making, and ultimately, greater mission success,” stated General Lagbaja.

He also stressed how important it is for soldiers and their families to be healthy in order for the Army to continue its transformational efforts. There are many support systems in place, some of which include the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS), accessible schooling for children of personnel, the construction of worship facilities, and the creation of skill-building programs for family members.

Brigadier General Mathias Amatso, the commander of the Nigerian Army Women Command, stated in his opening remarks that the workshop was motivated by the COAS’s emphasis on “Sound Administration” as a fundamental component of his Command Philosophy. He stated that “this workshop is a concrete step toward fulfilling the COAS’s vision of providing support for the homefront, ensuring that soldiers are not only victorious in battles but also have stable and happy families.”

A number of talks focused on the difficulties of juggling military duty with family life were presented throughout the program. These included “Soldiering and Building a Happy and Peaceful Family through Deliberate Practices,” “Balancing Military Service and Parenting,” “Honoring Our Values: Addressing Sexual Violence and Abuse,” along with “Nigerian Army Policies Relating to Family Life.”

The Nigerian Army’s dedication to the welfare of its soldiers and their families was further demonstrated at the event, which also included an interactive session, certificate presentations to attendees, and a group photo.
