Nigerian Police Inspector Justina Rita Omogbai, a female police officer assigned to the Traffic Unit of the Sabo Division in Lagos State, has received a commendation from the Nigerian Police Force for her commitment and acts of professionalism shown while doing her traffic-related tasks.
According to the statement, the Nigerian police officer was congratulated for representing the Police positively in the neighborhood, particularly to schoolchildren crossing the street near her place of duty, by taking personal precautions to make sure they were appropriately attired and safe while crossing.
The Force PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the Nigeria Police Force noted that her gesture is in line with the Community Policing tenets and the concept of “Catching Them Young” and that it reminds them of the standard procedure of Nigeria-Police Traffic Officers because the formative years are crucial for teaching children to be law-abiding and compliant with regulations. The IGP complimented the officer and advised other officers and troops to emulate her good efforts and set excellent examples in their respective fields.
The head of the Nigerian police was also told to enforce the law while imparting the values of good citizenship in the minds and hearts of community members, particularly the young, who, contrary to the prevalent misconception, may act as ambassadors for the NPF’s goals.
