An attempt by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) militants to enter Nigeria from the Cameroon border was successfully foiled by Nigerian troops assigned to Operation HADIN KAI in the North East. Five terrorists were killed and 10 others were taken into custody as a result of the army’ violent combat with the terrorists.
The action was based on intelligence indications that the terrorists had set up an ambush along Bula Yobe-Darel Jamel in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, according to Maj.-Gen. ES Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations. After getting the intel, the soldiers moved quickly and established contact with the terrorists.
The Nigerian soldiers engaged in a battle and killed five Boko Haram and ISWAP militants while also retrieving other things, including one bag of grain and one bag of detergent. A number of terrorists’ weapons, equipment, and supplies were also taken. The operation also resulted in the capture of accomplices who were supporting the terrorists’ operations.
A considerable number of terrorists have recently turned themselves in to the military, according to information provided by the Defense Media Operations. 967 terrorists in total, including 82 adult males, 354 adult females, and 531 kids, turned themselves in at various points inside the joint area of operations.
