It has been reiterated by Rear Admiral Eugennio Ferriera, Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) South-South Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), that there will be no shelter for criminals or saboteurs of vital national assets. In Ibaah, in the Emuoha Local Government Area Council of Rivers State, during the dismantling of an illicit crude oil refining facility, he made this remark.
The Commander Operation Delta Safe emphasized that the JTF OPDS would retain zero tolerance for any actions that interfere with its mission during a familiarization visit to the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division and Land Component. He urged criminal organizations to take advantage of the chances presented by the federal government’s non-kinetic strategies and participate in legal ways of support. In the event they didn’t, the troops would punish them.
Rear Admiral Ferriera spoke to the troops and urged them to stick to their resolve in carrying out the JTF OPDS’s mandate. He gave them the reassurance that his command would supply the operational and logistical support they needed to enable them to carry out their duties.
Also speaking at the event was Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the Land Component Commander of JTF OPDS and General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army. In the JTF OPDS area of responsibility, he announced that since taking over as GOC, troops from the land component have begun night patrols. Major General Abdussalam promised that further measures will be put in place to make it even harder for criminals to operate, and this move has put greater pressure on criminals.
As part of the visit to the Land Component Operation Delta Safe, briefings and mementos were exchanged, demonstrating the joint efforts of the JTF OPDS and the Land Component to maintain the security and stability of the area.
Rear Admiral Eugenio Ferriera and Major General Jamal Abdussalam’s and their respective commands’ resolve to thwart criminal activity and protect vital national assets in the South-South of Nigeria is reflected in their respective statements. The JTF OPDS will keep using a variety of tactics to uphold security and peace in the region while remaining committed to its mission.
