The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major-General Abdulsalami Ibrahim has declared that saboteurs will not be tolerated in the upcoming general elections in the country.
Captain Oya James, the Media Information Officer OPSH in a statement said, the GOC made the declaration on 24 February 2023 at Headquarters OPSH, while addressing security agents drawn from the military and sister agencies who embarked on show of force within the Jos metropolis.
Major General Ibrahim said the show of force was important to scare off criminal elements planning to disrupt the elections and deny them freedom of movement. He disclosed that the exercise will boost the confidence of voters, allaying fears of intimidation and harassment before, during and after the elections.
While assuring the voting populace of a secured environment for the conduct of the elections, the GOC/Comd OPSH said security agents would not spare anyone planning to instigate violence during the voting period. He therefore charged troops to be professional while carrying out the show of force.
In the same vein, the GOC/Comd OPSH also hosted the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed at Headquarters OPSH. The DG said he was at OPSH to solicit support of the command in securing the lives of serving corps members on election duty and others in their respective locations.
In his response, the GOC thanked the Director-General for the visit and assured him of OPSH commitment to continually protect every corps member living and serving within its area of responsibility.
