On June 1, 2023, Rear Admiral E Olusegun Ferreira, Commander of Joint Task Force South South Operation DELTA SAFE, visited Rear Admiral Ibrahim Aliyu Shettima, Flag Officer Commanding of Central Naval Command, at the Central Naval Command Headquarters in Yenagoa.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral EO Ferreira urged the Command and Joint Task Force South South Operation DELTA SAFE to continue their friendly working relationship in order to achieve more operational successes in the Niger Delta Region, particularly in the field of maritime operations.
In response to the Commander’s comments, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Aliyu Shettima, Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, stated that the Command would continue to support the Joint Task Force in order to effectively combat pipeline vandals and thieves of crude oil in the Niger Delta region. This is because both organizations have similar goals in terms of maritime operations.
In a similar vein, Rear Admiral EO Ferreira also paid the same visit to Air Vice Marshal Elijah Ororowa Ibiowe, Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command, where he praised the Nigerian Airforce’s support for the Joint Task Force South South Operation DELTA SAFE through the Air Component of Operation DELTA SAFE and requested additional assistance to further weaken pipeline vandals, crude oil thieves, and other criminal elements within the Joint Operation Areas.
During his remarks, Air Vice Marshal Elijah Ororowa Ibiowe praised the members of Operation Delta Safe for the commendable victories achieved thus far in the struggle against crude oil theft and pipeline damage. In order to help the operation achieve further operational successes, he promised to increase the Air Component’s effectiveness and provide other required support.
The visit to NNS SOROH, where Rear Admiral EO Ferreira and his entourage were greeted by the Commander NNS SOROH Commodore Abdulhakeem Olushina Ojebode, and received a briefing on operational activities, successes, equipment status, difficulties, and projections by the Ship Operation Officer, was one of the highlights of the events.
Rear Admiral Ferreira thanked the troops in his remarks following the operation brief and pledged to look into the issues raised. He also urged the troops to keep up the pace against the nation’s economic saboteurs and refrain from any acts of indiscipline or illegality while performing their duties.
The Commander of Operation Delta Safe paid a visit to the Sector 2 Headquarters as well.
