Multiple terrorist camps on Bichi Hill in Katsina State’s Danmusa Local Government Area (LGA) were successfully demolished by troops from Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma. On December 19, 2024, this decisive action was carried out in response to reliable information of ongoing terrorist attacks against villages in the Danmusa, Safana, and Kankara LGAs.

In order to destroy the terrorists’ operational base, the mission combined accurate airstrikes with ground offensives, according to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Center Operation Fansan Yamma. While ground forces engaged terrorists in a protracted combat close to Bichi Hill, the Air Component launched targeted strikes on designated camps. The terrorists were routed by overwhelming weaponry at the end of the conflict.

Successful airstrikes against escaping terrorists on motorcycles were another aspect of the operation that successfully thwarted their attempts to flee. Two well-known terrorist leaders, Manore and Dogo Nahalle, were among the dead, with reports indicating that they suffered fatal injuries.

In addition to eliminating a number of terrorists, the offensive destroyed camps on Bichi Hill’s high ground, severely impairing the group’s ability to operate.

After being threatened by terrorists, communities in Maidabino, Yantumaki, Mara, and other areas of Danmusa and Safana LGAs are now experiencing a return to peace. The operation gave impacted residents new hope by addressing the widespread displacement brought on by ongoing attacks.

Major General Oluyinka Olalekan Soyele, the Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, reiterated the troops’ dedication to fighting terrorism and maintaining peace in Niger State and the North West Zone. He asked people not to harbor or assist criminal elements in order to support the troops.

In addition to reaffirming its commitment to protecting people and property, the Joint Task Force promised to keep working to bring about enduring peace in the area.
