The troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) in the northwest region have achieved another significant victory in their ongoing efforts to combat banditry. In a daring operation, the troops of Forward Operation Base (FOB) Anka successfully rescued a couple who were abducted by bandits in the Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State. In a related development, the troops also intercepted a suspected bandit courier carrying military kits destined for the criminal elements.

The rescue operation was carried out following actionable intelligence received by the troops regarding the bandits’ presence on the outskirts of Anka township. Acting swiftly, the resilient troops moved towards the direction of the abductors’ withdrawal, ultimately rescuing the kidnapped husband and wife. The victims were immediately transported to Anka General Hospital for medical attention, ensuring their well-being and recovery.

Simultaneously, the troops of FOB Anka received credible information about a suspected bandit courier involved in supplying military kits to the criminal elements. Responding promptly, the troops deployed a blocking force towards the suspected location, which led them to the Dan-Kamfani illegal mining site. As the troops closed in, the courier abandoned his motorcycle and a bag containing a significant quantity of military equipment.

The seized items included 46 military jungle hats, 26 camouflage T-shirts, 2 pairs of desert boots, 14 different variants of military camouflage uniforms, 1 pair of desert hand gloves, and a motorcycle. The interception of these military kits prevents their use by bandits, significantly disrupting their operations and weakening their capabilities.

These successful operations are part of the intensified efforts by Operation Hadarin Daji to address the security challenges in Zamfara State. Since the redeployment of Commander 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Gusau, Brigadier General S. Ahmed, under the instructions of Major General GM Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Sokoto, the troops have taken the fight to the bandits’ doorsteps. With a relentless pursuit, the troops are actively engaging the criminals in Zamfara forests, targeting their hideouts and dismantling their networks.

The Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Zamfara State. Through operations like Operation Hadarin Daji, they are resolute in their efforts to restore peace and stability, creating an enabling environment for social and economic development.
