On July 31, 2023, Major General Gold Chibuisi, the Theatre Commander (TC) of Joint Task Force (JTF) North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), paid a significant visit to His Royal Highness (HRH) (Dr) Abubakar Ibn Garbai El-Kanemi, the Shehu Of Borno, at his palace in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

Upon arrival, Major General Chibuisi and his entourage received a warm welcome from the Monarch and Members of the Borno State Traditional Council.

During the visit, General Chibuisi expressed the importance of seeking the Royal Blessings and support of the traditional institution in their ongoing operations in the North East. Having assumed command responsibility of OPHK on July 13, 2023, he deemed it necessary to strengthen ties with the esteemed traditional leadership.

The Theatre Commander assured the Shehu of Borno of OPHK’s unwavering commitment to putting an end to the menace of terrorist elements that still pose a threat to the state and its environs.

In response, the Shehu of Borno commended the leadership of OPHK for their resilience and dedication in carrying out Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations in the region. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the security forces and expressed his gratitude for their efforts.

Furthermore, the Royal Father assured the Theatre Commander of the maximum support and cooperation of the Borno State Traditional Council. He emphasized that the doors of the palace are always open to the Theatre Commander for any support, cooperation, and guidance they may require in their mission.

The visit to the Shehu of Borno signifies the importance of fostering strong partnerships between Operation HADIN KAI and traditional institutions in the region. By seeking the blessings and support of the respected monarch, the Theatre Commander aims to win the hearts and minds of the people of Borno state, enhancing the effectiveness of their ongoing operations against the remnants of the terrorists. The collaboration between the security forces and the traditional leaders holds the potential to bring about lasting peace and stability in the North East.
