The ability of BH/ISWAP terrorists to conduct their operations in the Lake Chad Basin region has been further hampered by the continuing operation by members of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), known as Operation HARBIN ZUMA. The MNJTF forces’ aggressive stance and tenacity have continued to produce outstanding achievements.

According to a statement made by Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke, Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF, on May 11, 2023, exploitation was carried out in the general area following an attack by BH/ISWAP terrorists on military positions in the general area of Arege that was successfully repelled. One Dushka pistol, a Dushka Turrell, and a burned-out pistol truck were among the goods that were found during the confrontation, which also resulted in the neutralization of a number of terrorists.

The FC MNJTF Major-General GU Chibuisi commended the troops for their perseverance throughout the operation and advised them to keep the momentum going. The FC also thanked the air components from the nations that provided troops for the crucial roles they played in the operations, which he claimed contributed to the many victories that ground troops were able to claim.

He said, their efforts would not go unnoticed, and it is important to acknowledge the contribution that these troops have made to the security and stability of the region. Their bravery and dedication have helped to restore hope to the people of the Lake Chad Basin region, and they serve as an inspiration to us all. Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Niger, and Benin are among the African nations represented in the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), a military alliance. In order to tackle the expanding threat posed in the Lake Chad Basin region by the terrorist organization Boko Haram, the MNJTF was created in 2015.

The MNJTF has been instrumental in boosting regional security and removing the danger presented by Boko Haram since its inception. As a result of the coalition’s several successful operations against the terrorist organization, several towns and villages that were previously under Boko Haram’s control have been freed.
