The Headquarters, 1 Division Nigerian Army, today hosted participants of Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 9/2025 on an Operational Theatre Visit to Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA Area of Operations in Kaduna.

In a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, the delegation was led by the Commandant of the College, Major General Umar Mohammed Alkali, who charged participants to maximize the knowledge and experience gained during the operational tour for future strategic leadership roles.

Speaking during the visit, the Course Coordinator and Faculty Member, Brigadier General Akinkunmi Oyewunmi Odubiyi, disclosed that the delegation comprised 46 senior officers, including 2 Nigerian Navy officers, 1 Nigerian Air Force officer, and 5 international participants from allied countries such as The Gambia and Chad. He added that faculty members of the College also accompanied the participants.

The visit featured briefings and lectures on the operational activities of the Air and Maritime Components in support of land operations. The focus was on how joint efforts contribute to degrading terrorist elements while safeguarding the lives and property of local populations within the Area of Responsibility, which spans Kaduna, Niger, Sokoto, and other states.

The operational tour also highlighted both kinetic and non-kinetic activities being employed under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, showcasing the multi-dimensional approach of the Nigerian Armed Forces in tackling contemporary security challenges.

Highlights of the visit included: presentation of briefs, lectures and interactive sessions, as well as a courtesy call by the Commandant AWCN on the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army.
