On Wednesday, 3rd May 2023, participant of Executive – Intelligence Management Course 16 of National Institute for Security Studies who were on a study tour to the North East Theatre of Operations, visited the Headquarters of Theatre Command in Maimalari Military Cantonment Maiduguri. The team was led by the Deputy Commandant/Dean of Studies of the institute Mr DE Egbeji.
On arrival, the team were briefed on the Operational activities of OPHK by the Ch J1 Col UG Okodaso and Heads of other security agencies. Equally, questions were entertained from the participants to gain more knowledge and clear all doubts.
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Commandant disclosed that the team decided to visit the Theatre as part of their study tour in order to interface with the command and critical stakeholders of OPHK as regards security issues within the North East region.
The Theatre Commander, Major General IS Ali who entertained series of questions as it concerns the brief, enjoined the participants to use the knowledge gained not only for self-improvement but also to contribute to nation building and national securty. While recounting on the successes recorded by the Theatre, he also used the medium to assure the public of the unrelenting efforts and commitment of the command to rid the entire North East of terrorism.
The team commended the visible synergy and cooperation among security agencies in the Theatre, and also lauded their effort and sacrifices in the war against insurgency. Moreso, they thanked the Theatre Commander for opening his doors to them to acquire more knowledge on globalization and contemporary security challenges in the NE as well as efforts put in place by relevant security agencies to mitigate them.
