Plateau State, Nigeria – The security issues in some areas of Plateau State have been addressed by the acting inspector general of police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun. The IGP set off on a crucial duty trip by convoy patrol with the goal of evaluating the situation on the ground and engaging with important stakeholders to come up with tactical solutions.

The IGP made a significant stop at the Akwanga Area Command and Divisional Headquarters during his duty tour on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. This location is significant to him personally because it served as his first posting as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) when he first joined the Nigeria Police Force.

A meeting between the IGP and the governor of the Plateau State, His Excellency Caleb Muftwang, at the State House, was one of the tour’s most significant highlights. They had lengthy discussions about the complicated security situation in the state, concentrating on finding measures to bring peace and stability back.

The IGP organized a meeting with the Plateau Stakeholders Forum at the Police Officers Mess in Jos to make sure that all stakeholders had a voice and were working together cooperatively. The event gave important community leaders and authorities the chance to have in-depth discussions and work together to overcome the region’s current security concerns and achieve lasting peace.

The IGP visited the Mangu Local Government Area, which has been the heart of recent security issues, after realizing the seriousness of the situation. The IGP interacted with the local population and police officers in the area during his visit. Through this meeting, the IGP was able to examine the situation personally, gain insightful information, and reaffirm the Police’s dedication to tackling the security issues Mangu residents experience.

The IGP emphasized the significance of enhanced preventive deployments, efficient intelligence collecting, and community involvement in view of the circumstances in Mangu. These steps are necessary to proactively address security problems and guarantee the inhabitants’ safety and wellbeing.

The IGP emphasized the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard people’s lives and property while reestablishing harmony and peace in the impacted communities. He reaffirmed the NPF’s resolve to mobilize the tools required, bolster the preventive measures already in place, and undertake proactive plans not only in Plateau State but also in other parts of the nation that are experiencing comparable security issues.

Speaking to the crowd, the IGP pleaded with Plateau State residents not to associate the violent criminals responsible for the state’s horrendous murders and crimes with any particular religion or ethnic group. He highlighted that no matter their race or religion, offenders should be treated as such. The IGP seeks to maintain national unity and peaceful cohabitation by avoiding such colorations.

The efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, with the assistance and support of the local community and other stakeholders, are intended to restore long-lasting peace and security to Plateau State while the situation is still being closely watched.
