Police Freed 865 kidnapped victims, Arrests 383 Suspects, Others as IGP Rolls Out 2022 Achievements

When speaking to strategic police officers, including members of the Force Management Team, Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, and Commissioners of Police, at the IGP’s Smart Conference Hall at Force Headquarters in Abuja, IGP Usman Alkali Baba highlighted some of the noteworthy accomplishments documented under his administration as the 21st Indigenous Inspector-General of Police of the Nigeria Police Force.

This was said in a statement provided to media at Force Headquarters in Abuja by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the public relations officer for the force.

In order to assess police performance in 2022, analyze operational difficulties in relation to the IGP’s policing mandate, review and enhance election security management plans in advance of the 2023 General Elections, and collectively establish policing goals for the Year 2023, the IGP called the conference.

The IGP said that between January and November 2022, -865 kidnapping victims were freed without incident, while -383 suspects were detained. Additionally, during internal security operations, -473 suspected cultists, -335 murder suspects, and -923 suspects in armed robberies were all detained. -10,653 different calibers of ammunition were found along with a total of -1,125 different guns. In addition, the Nigeria Police Force detained -284 pipeline vandals nationwide in addition to -696 terrorists, bandits, and secessionists.

In accordance with the IGP’s manpower development policy and commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and assets of the Force, 34, 595 officers of all ranks have been promoted, and in 13 States, including the FCT, modern, fully furnished police stations and barracks accommodations, -5 cutting-edge police combat gunboats, -221 patrol cars, -55 lorries, -10 Tata troop carriers, -15 armored personnel carriers, -200 operational v -5,160 civil disorder prevention tools -6,723 vests protected by bullets To support complicated special police operations across the nation, -5,212 ballistic helmets, -2,110 anti-riot helmets, five manned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and three combat drones have been purchased, commissioned, and distributed.

The various strategic meetings with the leaders of political parties, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the National Security Advisor, the military, the Intelligence Community, and all other sister security agencies that are pertinent for election security management are evidence of the Inspector-General of Police’s assurances of all-inclusive approaches to managing election security during the 2023 General Elections. All Nigerians and the international community were reassured of his administration’s commitment to ensuring fair elections in 2023, and he requested their support, as well as that of all other citizens and key stakeholders, especially those in the realm’s fourth estate.
