In connection with the discovery of 51 firearms in a hideout at Emuhu community, Ika north-east council area of Delta State, a 58-year-old man named Peter Okolie and nine other people have been detained by the police.
The weapons consist of two filing machines, a toolbox filled with fabricated parts, and 42 single barrel firearms made locally, six double barrel guns, three pump action guns, among others.
The ringleader, a 58-year-old male, and his accomplices were apprehended in Agba quarters of Emuhu, according to a statement released on Wednesday by DSP Bright Edafe, the state police’s public relations officer.
Following reliable information to the police about a syndicate that specializes in producing locally made guns and other weapons, the arrest was made.
The command will not give up in the fight against crime and criminality, the state’s commissioner of police, Ari Mohammed Ali, assured all state residents.
While emphasizing that proactive policing and community police continued to be crucial in the battle against criminality, Ali urged everyone to work with the command by providing relevant, timely, and genuine information that will help in preventing crime.
