On 18/04/2023, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mamman Dauda presents cheques amounting to Eighteen Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seventy-Eight Naira, Two Kobo (N18,779,978:02) to thirty (30) beneficiaries under the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, Group Life Assurance and Police Welfare Scheme. The beneficiaries that were presented with the cheques are the Next of Kin of deceased Police Officers.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer Kano State Command, the CP while handing over the cheques, urged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the money for the upkeep and welfare of the families. He further stated that the Police Welfare Scheme was meant to ameliorate the suffering or hardship faced by the deceased immediate family before the benefits of such officers are paid. CP concluded his remark by praying for the departed souls.
In a moment of joy with tears, and overwhelmed by the gesture of the Inspector General of Police, the beneficiaries promised to make good use of the money as it comes in a time of need.
