Officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army’s Guards Brigade were today, December 28, 2022, thrown into a celebratory mood as President Muhammadu Buhari decorated the Commander with the new rank of Major General as part of events culminating the decoration of senior officers within the rank of Brigadier to Major General for the year 2022.

The Brigade Chief of Staff Guards Brigade Col. Oludele Peter Oyegoke, Unit Commanders, and other Brigade Staff officers welcomed the Commander after the decoration and congratulated him on earning the promotion and consequent decoration to the prestigious rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army.

He remarked that the promotion and decoration were in fact proof that he had exceeded expectations in his performance as the Brigade’s leader in all of its delegated duties.

The Commander was praised by the senior commanders for his diligence, astute leadership, and administrative skills.

Additionally, the Brigade’s spiritual leaders took advantage of the occasion to pray for the Commander and his family as they assume additional responsibility with their new position.

In response, Major General Muhammed Takuti Usman, the commander of the Guards Brigade, thanked all of the officers and members of the Brigade for their tireless efforts in maintaining the security of the entire Brigade Area of Responsibility, which includes parts of the states of Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Kaduna.

The Guards Brigade Commander, Maj-Gen Usman added that without the combined work of the several units and the people under his command, whose individual efforts made him successful, he would not have been elevated.

In addition to thanking the President for the opportunity to serve, the Guards Brigade Commander also thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his constant leadership and assured him of his continued commitment. He exhorted each officer in attendance to keep working hard because every effort counts.

The Brigade Commander prayed for those awaiting their own promotions to hold onto hope, reminding them that only God gives. The cake presentation, cake cutting, and group photos were the highlights of the event.
