President Bola Tinubu promised to address the issues of military equipment shortage and insufficient financing in order to improve the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces during the grand finale of the celebration of the 160th establishment of the Nigerian Army. President Tinubu’s representative at the occasion, Vice President Kashim Shettima, highlighted the pressing need for well-funded and equipped armed forces to successfully counter increasing security challenges across the country.

The need for contemporary, cutting-edge equipment for the Armed Forces as well as enough funding for their operations was highlighted by President Tinubu. He acknowledged the Nigerian Army as one of the nation’s most steadfast pillars of hope and praised it for its accomplishments in carrying out its constitutional duties admirably while also supporting regional and global peace efforts.

The President recognized the selfless acts of brave officers and soldiers who gave their lives or suffered serious injuries while defending the country, including some who were left permanently disabled. He asked the Nigerian Army to conduct operations in accordance with international best practices, including humanitarian laws and rules of engagement.

The government is committed to eliminating all risks to national security as quickly as feasible, President Tinubu promised the Nigerian people. He acknowledged the public’s concerns about security and the government’s determination to address them.

Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, promised unshakable support for Nigeria’s democratic government in his speech.
