Recruitment Exercise

Kano, June 14, 2023 – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, paid a visit to the Nigerian Army Battle Fitness Centre (NABFC) on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, to observe the ongoing Recruitment Exercise for the 85 Regular Recruits Intake, taking place in the Falgore Forest, Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano state.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, issued a statement confirming the COAS’s visit. During his address to the Recruitment Board, Lieutenant General Yahaya expressed confidence in their ability to select the most suitable candidates for the soldiering profession. He emphasized the importance of upholding the Nigerian Army’s standards and core values, reminding the team that the exercise was not an employment opportunity but a rigorous process to identify individuals fit for military service. The COAS urged the board members to remain focused, committed, and uncompromising in their assessments.

In addition to observing the recruitment exercise, Lieutenant General Yahaya took the opportunity to commission several development projects at the NABFC. These projects were recently completed by the 41 Engineers Brigade, Kaduna. Among the commissioned facilities were the newly constructed NABFC Gate, equipped with advanced security systems, a Quarter Guard, Regimental Sergeant Major’s Office, Guards Room, and Administrative Block. Furthermore, a 3-kilometer paved concrete walkway, a 6-kilometer perimeter block fence, and 4 kilometers of solar-powered street lights were also inaugurated.

The COAS expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the completed projects and commended the efforts of the Army Headquarters Department of Administration for their successful execution. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in training, infrastructure, and providing a conducive environment for capacity building among Nigerian Army personnel. These initiatives align with the fundamental principles of his command philosophy.

The visit to the NABFC was well attended by Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters, as well as the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, and other senior officers. The presence of high-ranking officials further emphasized the significance of the recruitment exercise and the importance placed on the development of the NABFC.

The COAS’s visit and the commissioning of the development projects underscore the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining high standards, enhancing training facilities, and creating a conducive environment for the continuous growth and professional development of its personnel
