The youth of Monguno Local Government Area have been enlisted in a football tournament by Headquarters Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI and Multinational Joint Task Force (OPHK/MNJTF) Monguno in an effort to win the hearts and minds of her host communities and to strengthen the already-existing mutual cooperation between the Nigerian Army and other stakeholders in the fight against insurgency in the North East.

Major General Abdulsallam Abubakar, the commander of Sector 3 of the OPHK/MNJTF, announced the tournament’s opening while stating that its purpose was to engage the youths of Monguno’s various communities and divert their attention away from participating in terrorist activities within her general operational zone. The event, according to Major General Abubakar, is also intended to identify fresh and young talents, bring the community closer to the command in order to strengthen already-existing mutual cooperation, as well as to expand her civil military activities in the general area.

Many senior officers and prominent dignitaries, including the commander of Sector 3 Garrison, the commander of Sector 3 Signal Brigade, the commander of Sector 3 Military Intelligence Brigade, the acting commanding officer of the 242nd Battalion, the representative of the chairman of the Monguno LGA, as well as other specially invited guests, attended the football tournament that was held at the football field of Government Science Secondary School in Monguno.
