The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigeria Army, Major General Takuti Muhammed Usman, has called for commendation and support for all security agencies in the country. During a courtesy visit by journalists to the 2 Division Headquarters, Major General Usman emphasized the need for fair and balanced reporting by the media regarding the security situation in the country and the efforts of security agencies in addressing security challenges.
Major General Usman highlighted the commitment of the Nigerian Army and other agencies in protecting the lives and property of Nigerian citizens. He stressed the importance of working in synergy with the media and other stakeholders to effectively discharge their duties and serve the country better. Major General Usman urged the media to report accurately and professionally, acknowledging the significance of investigative journalism and the role it plays in fostering a cordial relationship between the media and security agencies.
He emphasized that security men deserve commendation rather than condemnation from the public, given their relentless efforts to sanitize the country. Major General Usman also mentioned the successful role of security agencies during the last general election, which contributed to peace and stability in the country.
In response, Femi Amusan from AIT, speaking on behalf of journalists in the state, expressed gratitude for the existing relationship between the media and the Nigerian Army. The visit included the presentation of a plaque, signing of the visitors’ record book, and a group photography session.
