The Direct Short Service Course 26 (Army) and Direct Regular Course 30 (Nigerian Air Force) graduating cadets have been tasked by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya with upholding the nation’s honour and valour throughout their military careers.
Speaking to the cadets who would graduate from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, following nine months of demanding and extensive military training at the citadel military school, the COAS issued the warning today, December 16, 2022. This was stated in a press release given to the media by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachuckwu, Director of Army Public Relations, in Abuja.
The COAS continued by asserting that in order to meet today’s security challenges, graduating cadets must make sure that the professional principles and core values they have absorbed at the Academy have a positive impact on their operational tasks and other assigned responsibilities.
The Army Chief also emphasized that their value addition must be apparent during their various deployments after graduation. General Yahaya exhorted the Officer Cadets to abstain from any vices that would thwart or obstruct their sworn duty to the country. The Cadets are expected to pass out in a colourful ceremony scheduled to take place at the NDA, Kaduna, on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
The COAS, who would serve as the Special Guest of Honor, then dedicated a state-of-the-art Small Arms Simulation Shooting Range that had just been finished by the Commandant NDA Maj Gen Ibrahim Yusuf. Maj-Gen Yusuf noted that the indoor shooting range would give cadets plenty of opportunities to engage in regular shooting practice in order to improve their ability to fire under different physical conditions.
At the Special Warfare Wing and Warrant Officer Academy of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI) in Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna, respectively, the COAS also dedicated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Lecture Hall and a Computer Laboratory today.
The Commandant NASI, Maj Gen Monday Alli, informed the COAS at the commissioning that the projects were carried out to provide trainees with specialized competencies that will increase their effectiveness in current and future operations.
