The National Security Advisor, NSA Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno (Rtd) has said that Naira scarcity and the cashless policy will hamper Nigerian soldiers on military operations in remote locations.
This was said by Monguno on Thursday at a session held by a House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating currency reform and naira swap policy.
An ongoing effort is being made to remedy the issue, according to the National Security Adviser, which was represented by A.A. Mustapha, a director in the Office of National Security Adviser, ONSA.
“Military operations around the world, even in First World countries, such regulations, if properly well thought out will affect some of our personnel in locations where they actually cannot access digital means of paying for their daily livelihood,” he stated.
In an earlier part of his remarks, the committee’s chairman, Ado Doguwa, stated: “This committee believes that the policy would have, in one way or another, certain repercussions [for] the security apparatus or security architecture of the country, especially while we are facing elections.”
