A courtesy call was made to the Nigerian Ambassador in Lilongwe, Malawi, by the students of the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course 1/2023, who were accompanied by faculty members and the course’s commandant, Major-General Adekunle Adeyinka.

Ambassador Zara Muazu Umar of Nigeria to the Republic of Malawi welcomed the team. Similar to this, the Commandant also paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Memory Chibwana, the agent for the Malawian Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Golden Peacock Hotel Conference Hall in Lilongwe, Malawi. where the host was informed about the goal of the NACOLM research visit by the commandant.

The team had also previously paid a visit to the Malawian Defense Force Command. The team was welcomed by Lieutenant-General Paul Valentino Phiri, Deputy Commander of the Defense Force, at the headquarters of the Malawian Defense Force, where the delegation received a briefing on the performance of the Malawi Army’s involvement in regional security in the region of East and Southern Africa.

The students had the chance to interact with ambassadors, consular officers, and office personnel during these interactive sessions with embassy representatives. They received knowledge of an embassy’s daily operations, including consular assistance, political squabbles, and cultural diplomacy. To further improve their learning experience, the students were urged to actively engage in conversations and ask questions.

The trip gave the students the opportunity to learn more about the difficulties and opportunities of working as diplomats abroad. They gained knowledge of the value of cultural sensitivity, strong communication, and negotiation abilities in handling international interactions.

The Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course’s dedication to offering comprehensive and useful education to aspirant leaders was demonstrated by the study trip to the Nigerian Embassy in Malawi. The course’s objective is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their future endeavors by facilitating first-hand experiences and contacts with professionals in the field.

The presentation of mementos, interactive activities, and group pictures are the event’s highlights, in that order.
