According to the Taraba State Governor, banditry and other types of criminal activity have been kept at a minimum since troops were deployed in the state. He also urged residents of the state to continue supporting security forces and cooperating with them in their efforts to root out any lingering criminal elements there.
The Governor restated his commitment to giving the Nigerian Army (NA) the support it needs to operate more effectively in the State while also presenting the NA with a Certificate of Occupancy for the land donated by the state for the construction of Headquarters 6 Brigade. The quick acceptance of the land, he revealed, was done in thanks for the troops’ dedication to maintaining the safety and security of civilian lives and property.
Before they finished speaking, the GOC and Commander OPSH said that the NA would not stop until all criminal elements had been driven from the nation. In his opinion, peace is necessary for progress to take place.
Additionally, General Ibrahim thanked the Governor for giving the NA the property in Jalingo on which to erect the Brigade Headquarters and praised the state administration for its assistance and collaboration with the military personnel stationed there.
The GOC noted that the house was built at the direction of Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, in order to fulfill his vision of having “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Mission Within a Joint Environment in Defense of Nigeria.” The GOC was commissioning the newly built residence of 6 Brigade Regimental Sergeant Major in Jalingo. In ensuring military discipline and regimentation, he pointed out the need of the Regimental Sergeant Majors.
A few of the event’s highlights include the commissioning of a detention facility, Training Shade, as well as the inspection of the sick Bay and other facilities at Headquarters 6 Brigade.
