Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army continued its offensive against terrorists in the North West by conducting clearance operations in Kaduna State’s Birnin Gwari Local Government Area especially in Maidaro, Kagi Hill, Kusharki, and Anguwan Madaki. During these operations, terrorists were encountered. Four robbers were killed in the ensuing intense battle, which sent the others fleeing in chaos.
The valiant soldiers found four motorcycles, six Dane rifles, three locally made pistols with one 9mm round each, two AK-47 rifles with two 7.62mm Special rounds, and one automatic pump action gun with three ammunition.
This was stated in a news released by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, in Abuja. General Nwachukwu claims that in a different operation carried out by a fighting patrol team of the 1 Division Nigerian Army, soldiers stationed in the general areas of Sabon Birnin-Zartake, Ungwan Lima Riyawa, and Tungan Madaki, with close aerial support from Nigerian Air Force platforms, intercepted escaping bandits from Kagi Hill. The forces neutralized 3 militants in the ensuing firefight.
Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), praised the soldiers for their valor and asked them to continue their efforts until the region is free of terrorism and other criminal activity.
Major General TA Lagbaja, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, has urged all law-abiding individuals to continue providing the military and other security agencies with reliable information that may be used to help combat criminal groups.
