The troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army has been praised for their operational posture, competence, and pro-activeness in maintaining the operational tempo and momentum in the ongoing onslaught against Boko Haram terrorists and their Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) counterparts in the North East Theatre of operations, according to Theatre Commander (TC) Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Major General Ibrahim Ali.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, the Theatre Commander presented the commendation while touring the Division’s headquarters in Maimalari Cantonment.

Major General Waidi Shaibu, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, welcomed the TC upon his arrival and led him into the Operations room where he was given a thorough briefing on the overall security situation within the Division’s Area of Responsibility. He was then introduced to the various Component Commanders and other Principal Staff Officers of Headquarters 7 Division. The TC was also briefed on the deployment of formations and units under command, as well as the Division’s achievements, difficulties, and future outlook, among other things.

Before heading to Forward Operating Base, Molai to evaluate the operational readiness of deployed forces, he next reviewed a number of ongoing projects within Maimalari Cantonment.

The TC praised the Division for its concerted efforts to promote calm in the Theatre during his remarks. In order to ensure that the remaining BHTs/ISWAP terrorists are effectively dealt with, he advised officers and men to continue being vigilant and dedicated. He also exhorted them to refrain from any misbehavior as they worked to fulfill the Theatre’s goal of destroying terrorism in the North East. The TC then praised the GOC for his efforts in creating the infrastructure in the Cantonment and pleaded with him to uphold established standards in order to alleviate the severe housing scarcity there.

The signing of the visitor’s register, a group photo, and a simulation of various combat drills by soldiers from the 7 Division Garrison at FOB Molai served as the culmination of the tour.

Formation and unit commanders, principal staff officers from Headquarters Theatre Command, and members of 7 Division were present during the visit.
