The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Maj Gen Stevenson Olabanji today Monday 28 November 2022 decorated the newly promoted Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) of the Command. There were four Warrant Officers elevated to the rank of Master Warrant Officer and one Master Warrant Officer promoted to Army Warrant Officer respectively. In his remarks, the Commander urged the newly promoted soldiers to tighten up the buckle as the promotion comes with higher responsibilities, as he implored them to change the orientation of soldiering to reflect excellent regimentation.
He added that it’s now time to give the Nigerian Army the best to those coming behind them as a good example of leadership at their level. “You are expected to serve as mentors to the younger ones and you must continually push them to do the right thing,” he said. Maj-Gen Olabanji stressed the need to promote exemplary conduct, and this standard must be upheld through discipline, integrity, commitment, hardworking and personal development. He equally charged them to pay more attention to the welfare and well-being of the soldiers under them.
While lauding the numerous roles women play in the family and in the Army at large, General Olabanji encouraged them to be more supportive and accountable as they stand as strong pillars on the home front. He cited that good training and proper upbringing of children is a hallmarks of the family system and values.
Also speaking, the Chief of Research Development Test and Evaluation, Maj Gen S Ibrahim and other senior officers advised the newly promoted SNCOs to remain focused in the Army, take care of the families and continue to plan and prepare for retirement. The decoration ceremony was graced by Departmental Chiefs, Directors, Deputy Directors, Officers, soldiers’ families friends and well-wishers.
