Major General Adetokumbo Fayemiwo, the Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army) (CAB “A”), underlined the value of education as the best form of welfare and a means of becoming professionally competent. He said this at the 2023 6 Division Finance and Accounts Training Week’s opening ceremony.

The program, with the theme “Enhancing the Capacity of 6 Division Finance Personnel to be Proactive and Proficient in Delivering Financial Services,” was designed to provide the finance personnel with the abilities and information required to succeed in their positions.

In his capacity as Chief of Accounts and Budget (A), Major General Fayemiwo stressed the significance of training in carrying out the mission statement he created upon taking office. He underlined that training not only improves professionalism but also makes soldiers adept at their tasks, lowers the number of losses in battle, and eliminates resource waste.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force (JTF) South-South Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), praised the reputation of CAB A as a leader and supporter of training during his welcome message. He emphasized the dynamic adjustments made by CAB A at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College that significantly enhanced training. Additionally, the GOC recognized CAB A’s crucial contribution to the introduction of career courses and assessments for Direct Regular Course officers.

Major General Abdussalam stressed the significance of training in achieving the goal of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, to have a professional Nigerian Army capable of carrying out assigned missions in a joint environment for the defense of Nigeria. He recognized training as the key to unlocking personnel’s potentials.

The GOC was pleased with the compliments the personnel of the 6 Division Finance and Accounts received from the Bureau of Army Financial Management and Audit. He urged them to keep up their proactive, goal-oriented approach because the Division has a zero-tolerance policy for illicit activity. This will result in sustainable operational effectiveness.

The interactive sessions, memento-giving, and group photo during the training week gave the participants a forum for networking and knowledge sharing.

The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division finance and accounts staff are better able to carry out their responsibilities and contribute to the organization’s performance as a whole because training and investing in the development of the workforce are given priority.
