COAS vision

To provide great results in a shared operations environment, joint training has been identified as a crucial component toward achieving COAS vision. This was said by Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, when he officially opened the 16 Brigade training week at Headquarters 16 Brigade, Yenogoa, Bayelsa State.

The GOC, who was a special guest of honor at the event, also identified a comprehensive professional capacity development program combining training, education, and experience to develop an agile, adaptable, and innovative force capable of winning all battles in any environment and across all domains, according to Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi, the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 6 Division Nigerian Army.

Therefore, Major General Jamal Abdussalam instructed the participants to make the most of the knowledge and skills at their disposal throughout the training week in order to make the most of their time there. In order to improve its training curriculum, the Division, he continued, will evaluate the learning outcomes attained during the training week.

Brigadier General SY Yakasai, commander of 16 Brigade, Nigerian Army, said earlier in his welcoming speech that the Brigade was at the forefront of leaving its personnel with high-quality and practical training.

Among other topics, the Brigade Commander mentioned regimentation, discipline, general health and wellness, fire drills, road safety protocols, and human rights awareness as themes to be covered throughout the training week. These, he continued, will aid in developing fully developed, balanced, and whole officers, troops, and staff for related security organizations.

I’m making a reference to a quote attributed to Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, that reads, “For the Nigerian Army to be competitive in the 21st century, it must remain professional and seek to develop competencies that would make it ever ready to undertake its constitutional duties and inter-agency manoeuvres creatively, innovatively, and with great success.” The commander went on to say that the aforementioned highlights the importance of offering top-notch training that makes subordinates stand out and puts them in a better position to meet expectations as leaders and achieve exceptional results on the job.

The three-day training is anticipated to end on May 27, 2023. Participants in the training include staff from different security agencies as well as representatives from Bayelsa State’s sister services.
