The ISWAP terrorists’ hideouts in Mairambri village, which is part of the Sambisa axis of the Bama LGA, were destroyed on May 24, 2023, by the soldiers of the 21 Armored Brigade Bama. Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, was informed by intelligence sources that when the terrorists spotted the engaged troops, they withdrew and avoided making contact with them.

Zagazola Makama added that, later, the forces dismantled their fortifications and found an IED, some ammunition, and a motorcycle. An improvised explosive device (IED), a motorcycle, and hostile structures were all destroyed during the successful attack, significantly weakening the terrorist group’s capabilities.

The military carried out a focused attack against an ISWAP enclave in a distant area after acting on reliable intelligence. The operation’s objectives were to stop the terrorists’ operations, destroy their infrastructure, and eliminate their personnel. Using a combination of land and air capabilities, the forces advanced quickly and engaged the enemy.

The soldiers demolished a number of enemy buildings throughout the operation, including communication hubs, logistics bases, and hideouts. The ISWAP enclave was destroyed by the coordinated ground attack and targeted airstrikes, severely impairing their ability to operate in the region.

The troops not only destroyed the enemy, but they also found a motorcycle that was thought to be utilized by the terrorists for swift movement and reconnaissance. The motorcycle’s recovery will help with ongoing inquiries and intelligence gathering to break up the terrorist network even more.

A terrorist-planted improvised explosive device (IED) was also found and safely retrieved by the forces. The IED was successfully found and recovered in a timely manner, protecting both military troops and nearby innocent civilians from any potential danger.

The Nigerian military reaffirmed its dedication to the war on terrorism and insurgency, reiterating its resolve to destroy all ISWAP components and bring peace and stability back to the afflicted areas. The operation’s success is evidence of the military’s skill and will to fend off terrorist threats and safeguard Nigerian citizens’ lives and property.

The military command was grateful for the soldiers’ professionalism, bravery, and devotion in carrying out the operation. The soldiers received praise for their tenacious efforts in securing the country and their unflinching dedication to the fight against terrorism.

In order to help continuing operations against terrorists, the Nigerian military urged the people to keep sharing useful information and assistance. In the ongoing fight to defeat terrorism and guarantee the safety and security of the nation, cooperation between the military and civilian population is crucial.

As the Nigerian military carries out its operations against ISWAP and other terrorist organizations, the destruction of another enclave and the recovery of an IED and a motorcycle show that the rebels’ capabilities are being weakened. The military is steadfast in its objective to eliminate all terrorist groups and provide an atmosphere of security and tranquility for all Nigerians.
