A battling patrol from the 1 Division Nigerian Army encountered kidnapping passengers on the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road’s Manini village on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
According to a statement from Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations1 Division of the Nigerian Army, the soldiers accompanying Maj.-Gen. SE Udonwa, the Chief of Defence Training and Operations, to the Operation Whirl Punch Headquarters in Birnin Gwari engaged the bandits and overpowered them, causing the criminal element to flee in confusion.
The brave soldiers freed 30 abducted victims, found 2 motorcycles, and promptly cleared the route so that vehicles could travel freely. The victims who had been saved were led to Udawa and Birnin Gwari where they continued their journey.
Maj.-Gen. SE Udonwa, Chief of Defence Training and Operations, has praised the soldiers for their professionalism and tenacity.
