Nine kidnapped victims were freed by Operation Forest Sanity troops during battle raids to alleged bandits hideouts in Kaso, Chikun LGA.

As the bandits abandoned their camp and ran further into the jungle, the military fought the bandits on the high ground of Tantatu, according to operational feedback provided to the Kaduna State Government.

The troops searched the camp and freed nine abducted people, identified as Salama Oliver, Husseini Odu, Danjuma Jakanwa, Ezekiel Garba, Obadiah Moses, Taiwo Isaac, Buky Isaac, Ado Adamu, and Maigari Shekarau, according to Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State. The rescued captives’ initial interrogation indicated that they had all been abducted by the bandits near the Gurara Dam.

90 cattle that the escaping bandits had left behind were also found by the troops. The Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority will receive the animals for proper identification. Four motorcycles belonging to the bandits were retrieved as a result of additional clearance operations to Bawa Rikasa hill.

The nine people that were saved will go through more testing and debriefing before being reunited with their family. Patrols for the fighting will stay in the general vicinity.
