The United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) Field Officer Kaduna, Dr Gerida Birukila and members of her entourage comprising other United Nations agencies paid a courtesy call on the General Officer Commanding (GOC)1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Punch Maj Gen TA Lagbaja on 9 March 2023 at the Division’s Headquarters in Kaduna.
In his remarks during the visit, the GOC 1 Division appreciated the UNICEF Chief Field Officer and team for the visit and commended UNICEF and other UN agencies for their policies and services aimed towards the protection of children and making the world safe and inclusive for children to grow. Gen Lagbaja then pledged the Division’s continues support in providing security to UNICEF and other agencies to assist them perform their jobs.
Earlier, the UNICEF Chief Field Officer Kaduna, Dr Gerida Birukila thanked the GOC for the warm reception accorded her and her team. She applauded the GOC for his sacrifice and efforts in the restoration of normalcy, peace and security within the Division’s Area of Responsibility particularly on the Kaduna-Abuja road/rail corridor. She then used the opportunity to seek the continuous assistance of the Division in the area of security for the UNICEF team and other UN agencies to enable perform their functions effectively.
