On Friday, March 31, 2023, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Matthias Schmale, and members of his team were received in audience by the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force JTF (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Ibrahim Ali.
The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator said in his remarks that the purpose of his visit was to improve the organization’s relationship with the Theatre while bolstering existing synergies. The support and cooperation they receive from the Theatre Commander, he added, is essential to UN-OCHA’s overall objectives in the NE. He also thanked the Theatre Commander for his customary support and cooperation.
The team also commended the Theatre Commander for bettering the Joint Investigation Center’s (JIC) facilities and fostering better civil-military links in the area.
In response, Maj Gen Ali gave them assurances of the Theatre’s ongoing assistance and collaboration. Additionally, he thanked UN-OCHA for the resources it had given to the command in JIC. The Theatre Commander assured the guests of the Command’s resolve to uphold the already-existing calm in the NE while urging them to continue the good work.
