The Taraba State Governor, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku, scored the Nigerian Army’s activities very high in the past year. The Governor who was the Special Guest of Honour at the Combined Headquarters 6 Brigade, 6 Brigade Garrison and 114 Battalion (R) West African Social Activities (WASA) 2022 in Jalingo held on 11 February 2023, was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs and Special Duties Dr Ahmed Kara.
Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku appreciated the unflinching determination and sacrifices of personnel of 6 Brigade in ensuring that Taraba State was safe and free from unscrupulous elements. While looking forward to a greater achievement in 2023, Governor Darius Ishaku charged Officers and Men of the Brigade to strive harder to protect the state from all criminal activities for a lasting peace among all people and tribes.
Earlier in his welcome address, the host, Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Brig Gen FS Etim said WASA is an agelong military activity deemed necessary to retain soldiers’ loyalty and foster esprit-de-corps. Speaking further, Gen Etim stated that “WASA provides the avenue for personnel and their families to unwine and also to appraise the efforts of troops in Year 2022 keeping focus the COAS vision of having A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”
While appreciating the COAS for his support to the Brigade, he commended the troops for their dedication which has yielded many positive results in the last year. He further charged them to continue to maintain a preemptive posture to surmount security threats in the state. Gen Etim also thanked the good people Taraba state for their continuous support.
The event featured cultural display from various ethnic groups, Tug of War competition, Beating of the Retreat, lightning of Bonfire, presentations of awards to deserving personnel among many others.
