Due to a misrepresentation by some motorists regarding the use of the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Electronic Booking Device (E-Tablet), one of the Corps’ technological innovations created specifically for issuing traffic offence tickets by patrol operatives as a Point of Sale Machine (POS); The Corps wishes to inform the general public that it neither uses nor permits the use of POS machines nor receives payment for the fines of traffic offenses on patrol patrol posts.
In a statement, Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer, reaffirmed that the Corps has over the years developed transformational initiatives focused on People, Processes, and Technology. The Corps is an ISO-certified organization with international recognition for its leading role in traffic management and administration of road safety (PPT).
According to him, this development is vital for the incorporation of technology into its operations to gradually phase out the use of booking sheets, a manual method of capturing the information on traffic offenders, and replace it with a digital booking device.
Along with the foregoing and for further explanation of this technology, the Corps would like to make it known to the public that the E-Tablet is a 3-in-1 Android device that was implemented into operational use in accordance with international best practices for electronic ticketing.
The device’s launch aims to increase reliable data collecting and hasten the on-the-spot synchronization of information about traffic offenders into the national database. The tool provides a one-stop shop for FRSC products and services, including the national driver’s license and vehicle number plate verification.
By using this medium, Acting Corps Marshal Dauda Ali Biu reiterates that the driving public should be aware that the Corps does not employ POS machines, but rather a digitalized E-ticketing gadget that currently makes doing business easier.
