The responsibilities played by women in society are crucial to the advancement of the country, this is according to Major General Aminu Chinade, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army. Major General Chinade mentioned this when the 2 Division Chapter of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) paid him a courtesy visit, led by the chairperson, Mrs Saratu Aminu Chinade.
While praising the Association for its distinctive viewpoint and lofty goals, among other things, the GOC remarked that the significant roles played in the history of the Nigerian Army and the country as a whole will always be remembered.
As a result, he urged them to continue being strong, devout, and steadfast in fulfilling their responsibilities as mothers and advisers, and in ensuring that the home front was running smoothly.
He then praised the association for the several initiatives launched in the Division’s Area of Responsibility that has improved the quality of life for the Barracks community and its surroundings.
The GOC took advantage of the opportunity to educate Association members on the nation’s security situation and urged them to maintain alertness and share any available information without delay.
The NAOWA Chairperson had earlier stated that the association had made the courtesy call to express their congratulations to the GOC on his appointment as well as appreciating their gratitude for his ongoing support.
She added that the Association is starting several capital-intensive development projects, including the creation of an ICT centre and library at its vocational centres, programs for women’s empowerment, and the offering of scholarships to willing widows in the Barracks. As a result, she appealed for additional help from the GOC, Commanders, Directors, and Staff Officers of the Division, pointing out that the Association is a nonprofit organization that entirely depends on member dues and donations from people and businesses to run effectively.
