The Emir of Machina HRH Alh Dr. Bashir Albishir Bukar (OON), the Emir of Nguru HRH Alh Mustapha Ibn Mai Kyari, and the Emir of Bade who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers HRH Alh Mai Abubakar Umar Suleiman have on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, pledged to support the Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) troops in the region.

The Emirs of Yobe State made the oath while hosting Major-General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North East), in one of their different palaces. In their individual comments, the Emirs expressed gratitude to the Commander and his entourage for making the effort to visit their Emirates. They also praised the Nigerian Army and other security organizations operating in Yobe State for effectively suppressing the rebellion and re-establishing a semblance of peace. They also expressed gratitude to the security forces for ensuring Yobe State’s presidential and national assembly elections were held without incident. The Emirates’ Royal Fathers further reaffirmed their preparedness to build on the state’s restored peace in order to create more opportunities for socioeconomic development. The Sector Commander and his troops received the Emirs’ blessings and prayers for a fruitful tour of service in the State.

The visits were a part of his familiarization tours with Military Formations and Units under his command, said Sector 2 Commander Major General Saraso earlier in his comments. In keeping with Nigerian Army customs and traditions, he continued, he also felt it was important and rewarding to register his presence, give his respects, and ask the Emirate Councils for royal blessings and direction. The general went on to praise the respected monarchs for being the guardians of cultures and values. Additionally, he praised them for their contributions to Yobe State’s relative peace. The Commander asked the royal fathers for additional support at the conclusion of his speech in order to improve civil-military relations in the state.

Similar to this, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Osabo, the commanding officer of the 241 Battalion Nguru, welcomed General Saraso, informed him, and showed him around the unit’s deployment in Machina. General Saraso also paid a visit to the 159 Battalion in Gashua and one of the Unit’s duty stations in Kanama, where the Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Dauda Sikiru, addressed him and led a round. At each of the locations they toured, the senior officer addressed the officers and soldiers, urging them to always maintain a nonpartisan, orderly demeanor and a commitment to their designated tasks.
