Yobe State Governor Commends Military’s Success in Ensuring Peace

Damaturu, Nigeria – His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, expressed his heartfelt commendation for the successful military operations conducted by Sector 2 Joint Task Force (JTF) North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), under the leadership of Major General MLD Saraso. The Governor conveyed his appreciation during a courtesy visit to the Task Force Headquarters in Damaturu on Monday, 24 July 2023. During the visit, Governor Mai Mala Buni lauded the efforts and dedication of officers and soldiers of Headquarters Sector 2 in restoring peace to the state.

Governor Buni expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by the military in their relentless commitment to the restoration of peace in Yobe State. He commended their unwavering efforts and hard work in combating insurgency, which has significantly improved the security situation in the state. The Governor assured General Saraso of the State Government’s continued support in accomplishing their constitutional mandate and fostering a secure environment for the citizens.

In response, Major General Saraso, the Commander of Sector 2, expressed his appreciation for the support and cooperation received from the Yobe State Government, stakeholders, and other security agencies in the fight against insurgency within the state. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving successful outcomes in the ongoing battle against insurgent activities.

General Saraso reiterated the Sector’s commitment to conducting offensive military operations against insurgent hideouts while also employing non-kinetic engagements with local communities. This approach aims to foster positive relationships with the general public, winning their hearts and minds in the fight against insurgency.

The visit served as an opportunity for both the military and the State Government to strengthen their partnership and reaffirm their shared determination to ensure peace and security in Yobe State. The presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph marked the conclusion of the visit.

The commendation by Governor Mai Mala Buni reflects the continued efforts and dedication of the Nigerian military in its mission to restore peace and stability to the North East region. Through collaboration with state governments and other stakeholders, the Armed Forces are steadily making progress in their fight against insurgency.
