Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the governor of Borno State, visited Amity University in Noida, New Delhi, India, on Wednesday. According to a 2016 record, Amity University, which was founded in 2005, is among the top universities in the world. With more than 15,000 research and publication projects, the university provides more than 300 undergraduate and graduate courses.

During the visit, Governor Zulum expressed the administration’s willingness to work with Amity University to exchange research and technology on topics related to agriculture, energy, medicine, engineering, and applied sciences, as well as to train academics from Borno’s higher institutions.

Zulum stated that one of Borno’s priority is agriculture, and that his administration will concentrate on post-harvest loss training in order to achieve food sufficiency.

Gov Zulum claimed that any future collaboration with Amity University would center on climate change issues that might increase agricultural resilience and counteract desertification. In order to formally establish a partnership between the University and the Borno State Government, Zulum revealed that a technical team from Borno will arrange a visit to Amity University in the early months of 2023.

Dr. W. Selvamurthy, president of the Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation, director general of the Amity Directorate of Science and Innovation, and the chancellor of Amity University, among other senior administrators of the institution, welcomed the governor to the university.

Amity University outlined their initiatives with potential areas of cooperation in a powerpoint presentation. Before leaving the university, Governor Zulum spoke with Nigerian students enrolled at Amity University. He commanded them to focus on their studies and act morally upright.

Mr. Regeh John, a representative of the Nigerian Embassy in India, Alhaji Ahmed Sanda, the Governor’s special protocol advisor, Engr. Adam Bababe, the Executive Secretary of the Borno Geographic Information Service, and Engr. Bawu Musami, the SSA on Technical Matters to the Governor were all members of Zulum’s delegation.
