Headquarters 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), celebrated the retirement of the Division’s Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Army Warrant Officer (AWO) Dauda Waheed, in a grand ceremony on June 26, 2024, at the Division’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks.
Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 6 Division, expressed his appreciation for AWO Waheed’s dedicated service. He praised Waheed’s regimentation and discipline, noting that his retirement comes at a time when his services are most needed. General Abdussalam highlighted Waheed’s crucial role in mentoring younger soldiers, ensuring the continuation of regimentation and discipline within the NA.
“AWO Dauda Waheed was a dedicated, committed, disciplined, and result-oriented RSM who executed his responsibilities with minimal supervision. His exemplary service earned him the distinguished rank of AWO,” said General Abdussalam.
Brigadier General Babatunde Omopariola, the Chief of Staff at Headquarters 6 Division, also commended AWO Waheed. He highlighted Waheed’s tireless and selfless service, particularly noting the impressive sanitation and neatness he maintained in the barracks, especially at the Division’s Quarter.
AWO Dauda Waheed expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with General Abdussalam, whom he described as a charismatic and persuasive leader who prioritizes the needs of his men. Waheed pledged his continued loyalty to the nation and the Nigerian Army. He thanked God Almighty, and all the officers and soldiers of the Division for their support and cooperation, and prayed for their successful future retirements.
The ceremony was a fitting tribute to AWO Waheed’s 35 years of dedicated service, marking the end of a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army.
