The Acting General Officer Commanding (Ag GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the fight against insurgency in Borno State.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Sani, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, the assurance was given during the maiden visit of the new NSCDC State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, to Headquarters 7 Division in Maimalari Cantonment on Thursday, 11 September 2025.

Brigadier General Unachukwu highlighted the longstanding collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC, describing it as part of a wider, symbiotic relationship with the Corps’ national headquarters. “We shall continue to build upon the already existing collaboration, especially in terms of joint operations and training, as well as responding to critical operational exigencies when the need arises,” he stated, while welcoming the Commandant to Borno and wishing him a successful tour of duty.

In his response, Commandant Agalama said his visit aimed to formally register his presence and build rapport with the leadership of 7 Division following his assumption of duty as the 12th State Commandant. He commended the Division for its efforts in the theatre of operations and sought continued support, noting the complementary role the NSCDC plays in assisting the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

The meeting underscored the importance of interagency cooperation in countering insurgency and supporting the Borno State Government’s ongoing resettlement and stabilization initiatives.
