NAOWA President Commissions 500 Seater Multipurpose Hall, Others in Lagos

The President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya in her continuous efforts to enhance learning activities through standardization and expansion of NAOWA Institutions, constructed an additional Block of 6 Classrooms, ICT Laboratory and a 500 Seater Multipurpose Hall at the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School Ojo Cantonment .

At the Commissioning Ceremony, the Special Guest of Honour, Her Excellency the First Lady of Lagos State Dr (Mrs) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the establishment of the facilities was a noble step in the right direction. She further stressed that the President NAOWA is Working the Talk as regards her vision of sustaining the legacies of NAOWA past leaders and upholding the tenets of unity and service.

Earlier in her Opening Remarks, the President NAOWA stated that the School which began with 165 pupils currently has 695 pupils, hence the need for additional structures. She also stated that the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary aschool Ojo is very important in the annals of NAOWA, being the Pioneer NAOWA School and one of the four NAOWA schools under the direct administration of the NAOWA President.

The Mother of the Day, Mrs Alero Azazi in her remarks applauded the President NAOWA for her humanitarian activities which she said is well known in the public domain. She further commended the President NAOWA for her giant strides in sustaining and improving legacies of past NAOWA leaders.

Also speaking at the event, the Father of the day, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya (CFR) represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General OC Ajunwa commended NAOWA for its infrastructural initaitives which are of immense benefit to the Barracks Community.

In her vote of thanks, the Chairperson NAOWA 81 Division Chapter Dr (Mrs) Ada Ajunwa appreciated all the invited guests for gracing the occassion.

Present at the event were traditional rulers, the President Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), representatives of the Presidents Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) and Nigerian Airforce Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA); Others include, Corp Commanders, Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and other distinguished guests

In a separate event, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya also commissioned a Block of 6 Classrooms at the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School 9 Brigade, Ikeja Cantonment. The Classrooms were constructed by the Coordinator NAOWA 9 Brigade Chapter Bar (Mrs) Ndidi Amaka Akpaumontia.

Highlights of the event include; a tour of the facility, cultural dance by pupils, dinner reception, signing of visitor’s book, group photographs and presentation of souvenirs.
