On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu Abdullahi formally took over as the 37th Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army Zaria, Kaduna State.
Major General Peter Malla, the outgoing Commandant, thanked the officers and personnel of Depot Nigerian Army for their support throughout his tenure during his closing remarks. He pleaded with them to offer his successor the same level of assistance.
Major General Malla emphasized the conscious efforts made throughout his administration to steer the administrative, training, and logistical activities of Depot Nigerian Army in a direction that is in line with the current and foreseeable dangers the country faces today. He stressed the significance of preparing young, physically fit Nigerians for the challenges that lie ahead by training them in conformity with the realities of the Nigerian Army’s modern operating environment. He thanked Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, for the assistance provided to the Depot Nigerian Army under his leadership.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Abdullahi, the new Commandant, praised Major General Malla for his admirable successes in mission-specific training. In keeping with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, which aims to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force to fulfill its constitutional obligations within a joint operational environment, he pledged to build on the accomplishments of his predecessor.
In addition to thanking the Chief of Army Staff for the opportunity to serve in that role, Brigadier General Abdullahi asked the officers and soldiers of Depot NA to assist and support him in the effective training of the fighting forces of the Nigerian Army.
The presentation of the Depot NA flag to the incoming Commandant and the decoration of the new Commandant with the Depot NA insignia served as markers for the occasion.
