Participants of National Defence College Course 31/2022 have been charged by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army Maj Gen TA Lagbaja, , to strengthen their capacity to function well in larger duties that await them in the near future. When the participants visited Headquarters 1 Division of the Nigerian Army on a study tour on December 7, 2022, he made this statement.

In his remarks, the GOC, who was represented by Brigadier General Mk Gara, Chief of Staff of 1 Division, said that the NDC is an institution that has been essential in developing the human resources of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police, sister security agencies/MDAs, and the Armed Forces/security agencies of allied nations.

The GOC continued by saying that the research trip is pertinent and relevant given the numerous security issues that the Division and the Nigerian Army as a whole are facing.

The GOC added that the tour will give the participant first-hand knowledge of the threats and the precautions being taken to counter them. Then he gives the team the assurance that the Headquarters will be receptive to suggestions from their research and study on how to enhance the Division’s operational effectiveness, as this should include a long-lasting exit strategy from the numerous security issues the NA is currently facing.

In his remarks, the delegation’s leader, National Defence College Brigadier-General OG Onubogu, praised the GOC’s efforts to maintain security in the Division’s and Kaduna state’s Area of Responsibility by inspiring the troops and physically overseeing most of the operations.

He also recognizes the efforts taken to ensure that participants are aware of how the Division is supporting initiatives put in place by the Kaduna state government to increase the socioeconomic resilience of the local populace.

The interaction with the tourists, the signing of the visitors’ book, the exchange of souvenirs, and the group photo were the highlights of the visit.
