On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, Major General Gbemiga Olusegun Adesina assumed command as the Commander Corps of Signals (CCS), becoming the 44th Commander of the Signal Corps..
Major General Garba Abdullahi, the outgoing CCS, praised the officers and troops of the corps for their dedication and cooperation during his term while also thanking God for his great career during the transfer ceremony. He also expressed his appreciation for the cooperative efforts of the commanders, directors of signal formations and units, and staff officers of Headquarters Nigerian Army Signals (HQ NAS), and he urged them to show the same support to the new CCS.
Major General Olusegun Adesina thanked God and Major General TA Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, for giving him the responsibility of CCS during his remarks at his inauguration. He also recognized the role that formation commanders, directors, and major staff officers of HQ NAS played in the corps’ prior victories. All of the corps’ officers and soldiers were exhorted by him to work even harder and build on his predecessor’s accomplishments. Major General Olusegun Adesina was the Chief of Defence Communications at the Defense Headquarters prior to being appointed CCS.
During the event, handover and taking over notes were signed, the new CCS was adorned with Signals insignia, a group photo was taken, and a new Signals flag was raised at the Quarter Guard to mark the beginning of a new era for the Corps of Signals.
The Corps of Signals has reached a key turning point with the appointment of Major General Go Adesina to command, and under his direction, the corps is likely to continue to develop its capabilities and effectiveness in carrying out its crucial communication duties for the Nigerian Army.
