The Management of the Nigeria Customs Service has approved the promotion of 357 subordinate officers in an effort to raise spirits and honor exceptional service. On December 1, 2023, the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, chaired the 7th Management Meeting of 2023, where the decision was ratified, showing a dedication to encouraging and rewarding excellence in the service.
The full promotion list includes employees from the ranks of Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Inspector of Customs (IC), according to a statement released by Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, the National Public Relations Officer. Between AIC and IC, there were 246 GD (General Duty) officers, 37 SS (Support Staff) officers, 39 GD from CAI to AIC, 27 SS from CAI to AIC, 7 SS from CAII to CAI, and 1 GD from CAIII to CAII. These officers make up the split of promoted officers.
This tactical choice, which highlights the value of motivation and acknowledges excellence and dedication among the ranks, is in line with the Comptroller-General’s imaginative leadership. The newly promoted officers are congratulated from the bottom of the heart by the Comptroller-General, who also asks them to work even harder to accomplish the three main goals of the service: revenue generation, trade facilitation, and smuggling suppression. With this change, the Nigeria Customs Service should be able to perform its vital duties with greater overall efficacy and efficiency.
