Major General Oluyinka Soyele, the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma, has underlined the forces’ readiness and resolve to eliminate the terrorist organization Lakurawa along the Nigeria-Niger border. His operational visit to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Special Operations Brigade’s tactical headquarters in Balle, Gudu Local Government Area, Sokoto State, on January 10, 2025, highlighted this dedication.
Major General Soyele reaffirmed the vital significance of preserving Nigeria’s territorial integrity in a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, characterizing it as “non-negotiable.” The Lakurawa organization has posed a serious threat to peace and security in the border regions, thus he urged the troops to continue being watchful and determined in their attempts to destroy it.
Speaking to the troops, the Theatre Commander emphasized the importance of their activities in maintaining the safety and security of border towns as well as the need for unshakable dedication to the objective.
Understanding how important local communities are to military operations, Major General Soyele contacted citizens to encourage them to support the military in the war on terror. He underlined that improving operational effectiveness and creating a unified front against insurgency depend heavily on intelligence sharing and proactive cooperation between security personnel and local communities.
In addition to hastening the fight against terrorism, he stated that “strong community cooperation will pave the way for sustainable peace and development in affected areas.”
The goal of Operation Flush Lakurawa Out is to bring security and stability back to border villages while fostering an atmosphere that supports growth and prosperity. In addition to expressing confidence in the troops’ readiness and determination to produce significant results, the Theatre Commander reassured all parties involved of the military’s dedication to accomplishing these goals.
