Col. Hameed Ali, the Comptroller General of Customs Service, vowed to support the Command and Staff College of the Service in all ways in order for it to carry out its functions effectively and graduate professional officers.
CGC made this statement on Tuesday at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College’s Senior Course 7 and Junior Course 12 graduation ceremonies in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
He clarified that the administrative changes being made to staff posting and promotion were intended to be complemented by the reform being implemented in the area of capacity building.
The Comptroller General of Customs stated that the new graduates will be strategically placed for the best results when discussing the service’s process for elevating its workers, emphasizing that their performance will serve as a baseline for quality assessment of staff members.
The Customs boss gave the new executives the responsibility of becoming more computer literate in particular because the service has already begun its journey toward full digitalization. The CGC also promised to help the college until it reaches its goal in 2023.
Bashir Adewole Adeniyi, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs and Commandant of the College, welcomed everyone and praised Col. Hameed Ali, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, for his efforts, particularly in the Service’s fight against economic saboteurs.
He added that the institution has undergone several renovations, the construction of new hostels, and improvements to the staff welfare and electricity infrastructure, saying that the Comptroller General of Custom ‘s significant intervention offered to the college would never be forgotten.
The Commandant also complimented the Customs boss for receiving the National Award from President Muhammadu Buhari recently and praised the students for their good moral character, diligence, and sacrifice.
General Lucky Leo Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff, who was a special guest of honor at the event, advised the Customs graduates to put the training they had received to use to improve their working environments and raise the bar for professionalism.
He also emphasized the necessity of increased coordination between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Armed Forces in order to improve administrative and operational outcomes.
